John has been writing since he was 14 years old, but it wasn’t until late 2013, early 2014 that he actually started doing it with a purpose, and all that began on a bet.
While watching the end of the 3rd season of The Walking Dead, John mentioned to friends how much he thought the show was already going downhill, and that he bet them he could write a better zombie story than that of The Walking Dead. Between discussions with friends about surviving the end of the world in Hannibal, and John’s love of old and classic zombie flicks, The American Revenant series was born. With three novellas and two novels, that series is now complete. After co-authoring the book Tales of Junction with Guy Cain, which he refers to as “a very different kind of zombie apocalypse” he has moved on from the undead. (Whether or not the American Revenant series is better storytelling than The Walking Dead is totally up to the reader. But John thinks it is.)
His short horror has appeared in the anthologies Bad Neighborhood from Spooky Words Press and Southern Fried Autopsies from Burning Willow Press, as well as his own horror collection, Searching for Stephen King and Other Stories.
John has also written two well-reviewed suspense thrillers, Average Joe and Rage Against the Dying.
Davis has always had a fascination with end-of-the-world tales and post-apocalyptic fiction. He is currently working on two short stories and a new novella, all set in the great American Wasteland, many years after an unknown apocalypse. (Sorry, no zombies!) These will be released sometime in the late Spring or early summer.
John, along with numerous talented people, has also made two short films in Hannibal; the first, American Revenant Movie, is partly based on his first book in the American Revenant series, and Friend, for which he wrote the script.
